Daily Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:1 – 24
Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 7:1a – “Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote:”
The first 6 chapters of this letter deal with a report that Paul received from Chloe. At this point, he answers some questions and discusses some areas that the Corinthians had posed to him. From chapter 7 through 14, he deals with a variety of topics. He begins with Marriage Obligation in chapter 7 and ends with a discourse on Spiritual Gifts in chapter 14. In between, he will answer their questions on Christian liberties and Proper form of worship.
He has been asked about the area of celibacy and divorce. He speaks of the relationship between a husband and his wife. Our society and churches would do well to listen to the advice given by God through the pen of the Apostle Paul.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, You have designed our lives and know what is the best for each of us. Father, may we put aside our cultural and preconceived views to be open to the words that You have written for us. May we walk in Your way at all times. Amen.
