In the world, not the world in me.

August 23

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 5

Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 5:12 – “ For what have I to do with judging them that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within?”

This chapter deals with the Corinthian Church ignoring sin in its ranks. Paul calls them to deal with sin inside the church.

He tells them that not associating with sinners in the world would require “for then must ye needs go out of the world” (verse 10b). He is reminding us that we are sent into the world to challenge them to accept Christ. We are not to imitate or accept for ourselves their sinful lifestyle. We can, as the old saying goes, “Love the sinner and hate the sin.”

Too often churches compromise their standards seeking to increase their numbers, however, this goes against the Scriptures. In fact, allowing this mindset can affect the entire church. Paul said, “Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?” (verse 6b).

Prayer: Jesus, I want to be molded into an image of You. Do not allow the world to take control of my thoughts and lifestyle. Amen.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)  listen to chapter  (Read by Max McLean.
