Unified Hope

August 16

Daily Bible Reading: Romans 15:1 – 20

Verse of the Day: Romans 15:13 – “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.”

The Greek term used for hope in this passage is one that shows a confident expectation or anticipation. In the New Testament the word hope does not carry with it the idea of wishful thinking, as we so often use it today.

Paul in chapters 12 – 15 has been encouraging us to live like believers. We are to display what a Christian looks like. He is speaking in our passage today of glorifying God together. We are to be like-minded with one another (vs. 5) and this will help to display the oneness and glory of God. When we live together as Christians in this life, we give the world a glimpse of what Heaven will be like.

Prayer: Father of Unity, help us today to seek out ways to be like-minded in what we say, do, and plan. If we truly want the world to see we have something different and better, let us live it out before them today. Amen.
