May the God of Peace

August 17

Daily Bible Reading: Romans 15:21 – 33

Verse of the Day: Romans 15:33 – “ Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.”

Paul is drawing this letter to the Roman believers to a close. He speaks to them about his desire to come and visit with them. He had no idea at this point that his trip would be financed and provided by the Roman government.

Paul has spent a good deal of time and effort writing this special letter. He has shared his heart and his concerns. He starts out by emphasizing the that the whole world needs the gospel, possibly because he is writing to people in the city of Rome, the hub of the world at that time. He ends by praying for peace in the lives of those he has been writing to. He has made it evident that peace comes from the grace of God given freely to all who ask. He stresses the need for all to come to salvation. He makes us aware that there is no greater need a person has than their relationship with God.

Prayer: Father, may my heart, mind, and life be in line with You at all times. Amen.
