God's Temple today

August 24

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6

Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 6:19 – “Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own;”

The Greek word ναος refers to the building itself. There are other Greek words that refer to the whole complex.

Paul was reminding each of the believers in Corinth that their body was a sanctuary for God. What a privilege it is for us to be the spiritual dwelling place of God. In the Old Testament, the Glory of God filled the Tabernacle (Ex. 40:34) and the Temple (1 Kings 8:10,11).

Today, the Glory of God in the person of the Holy Spirit dwells in each believer. In the New Jerusalem there will not be a need for a physical Temple because God and the Lamb will be the eternal temple (Rev. 21:22).

Prayer: Father, may I be a pure and holy place for Your Spirit to reside in. May I be worthy of the privilege of being the Temple of God today. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)  listen to chapter  (Read by Max McLean.
