Peacemaker

August 15

Daily Bible Reading: Romans 14

Verse of the Day: Romans 14:19 – “So then let us follow after things which make for peace, and things whereby we may edify one another.”

We are called to edify, or build up, each other. Too often as Christians we fail in this area. Some believe it is their calling to tear down everyone and show them how they are failing God. But, as our verse today in these chapters on being a Christian that Paul writes to the Roman believers shows, we are to build up one another.

So, how do we do this? By seeking to pursue peace. There is enough tribulation and challenges in the world around us. We need to seek out the things that will develop and produce peace. When we do, we will be building up others, not tearing them down.

Prayer: God of all Peace, make me a minister of peace in this world of tribulation, care, and destruction. Help me to seek out ways to create an atmosphere of growth in peace. Show me how I can bring people to You through the peaceful application of Your love in their lives through mine. Amen.
